The Valduce Foundation was established on April 19, 1996, with the aim of supporting and promoting initiatives and activities related to study and research in biological-medical disciplines, particularly in the field of rehabilitation.

Born from the synergy between the healthcare sector and the business world, the Foundation has long since developed a system of research projects supported by the clinical and research efforts of doctors from the Villa Beretta Rehabilitation Center in Costa Masnaga and by the resources of some industrialists convinced of their social role beyond just economic and productive interests. Over the years, this has led to the strengthening of studies and innovative, promising initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for disabled patients.

The interdisciplinary translational clinical research activity is focused on supporting, developing methodologies, and testing technologies applicable in various rehabilitation pathways, with particular reference to recovery after injuries to the nervous system at the brain and spinal cord levels, of genetic, vascular, traumatic, or degenerative origin.

In the last ten years, the focus has been specifically directed toward technologies for imaging diagnostics, spasticity treatment, wearable robotics, implantable systems for movement control, wearable technologies for lifestyle studies aimed at generating new outcome measures.

The experience, results achieved, and the ongoing research network create all the conditions necessary to establish an international research center dedicated to activities in the bio sector (genetics, epigenetics, microbiome) and technological sector (robotics, implantable systems, imaging diagnostics, lasers) for function recovery, studying genetic factors predictive of outcomes, and epigenetic modifications related to advanced rehabilitation procedures.

The Valduce Foundation has been active for years in biomedical research. You can also allocate 5 per thousand of your taxes to the Valduce Foundation by indicating the CF 95048450134 in your tax return under the section for scientific research and university funding. Currently, the main activities are focused on:

  • Developing methodologies and testing technologies applicable in various rehabilitation pathways;
  • Applying robots and new materials in rehabilitation, opening new scenarios for braces and orthoses;
  • Studying the use of wearable robotics (exoskeletons) in rehabilitation;
  • Supporting respiratory rehabilitation activities.

The interdisciplinary translational clinical research aims to support the development of methodologies and testing of technologies in different rehabilitation fields, especially for recovery after nervous system injuries at the brain and spinal cord levels, of genetic, vascular, traumatic, or degenerative origin.

In the last 10 years, the focus has been specifically on imaging diagnostics technologies, spasticity treatment, wearable robotics, implantable systems for movement control, and wearable technologies for lifestyle.

The experience and results achieved, along with the established research network, provide a strong foundation for consolidating an international research center in the bio (genetics, epigenetics, microbiome) and technological (robotics, implantable systems, imaging diagnostics, laser) sectors, aimed at functional recovery, study of genetic predictors of outcomes, and epigenetic modifications related to advanced technology rehabilitation treatments.
